Panama City Beach, Florida

The view from our balcony at Club Wyndham Resort.

With one vacation cancelled in April due to the Corona Virus, I was not going to let it stop me again. I was in desperate need of a vacation after my boys not having in person school since March and myself still working daily. We choose Panama City Beach in Florida because we had never visited the panhandle of Florida before. Florida does not have a mandatory mask order like my home state of NC however, many cities or counties have their own rules for masks. You can check this website for Florida covid info. PCB within city limits does require masks inside stores and restaurants.

The city itself has many amenities and is full of beach front dining. My favorite beach front restaurant was Barefoot Hide A Way Grill. The atmosphere was relaxing, the chairs were really comfortable (even the kids loved them) and our waiter was super awesome (thanks by the way for giving the boys free frisbies). We also got take out from Jerk Shack Spice and Sport Bar. This small place (only the owner was working when we picked up) gave us very generous portions of smoked chicken, island rice and cabbage and it was delicious and tasted very authentic Jamaican. Although we didn’t dine in, the place had a pool table and hookahs. The vibe was extra chill and I would visit again to hang out inside.

Also in PCB is the Pier Park, which has lots of shopping and chain restaurants right across from the Pier. We ate at Margaritaville located in pier park and it was by far the worst restaurant we ate at the whole trip. This area is over crowed (we went on a Tuesday) and makes for poor service. Kids loved the interior but waiting 30 mins plus for a drink order is a little ridiculous. Food was just okay nothing spectacular but very expensive.

We stayed at Club Wyndham Panama City Beach, we found this resort through Air BnB and booked a room. The resort is nice, it has two outside pools one with a bar and snow cone stand, one big hot tub, a fitness gym, beach access, onsite starbucks, and a sky bridge that links the parking garage to the rooms which includes the sky bar and mini restaurant. Loved this resort, room, and all the amenities included.

Overall our trip was a strong 9/10. The only thing that would’ve made it a 10 is if we could’ve swam in the gulf. We could swim not due to Hurricane Laura’s location in the gulf which made strong rip currents. PCB patrol was out giving $500 fines to those who did not listen to the warnings. During the rain we had to make our own sunshine, which we did at a little arcade near the resort. Also, rented a golf cart to ride around town in for about $150 for 24 hrs visit outlaw rentals for info.

My fave look of the trip (and this is from a rainy day), tyedye shirt made by me (I have tyedye shirts available per request) and hat is available at Live Southern Coastal.

If you want to take a vacation, don’t let Covid stop you. Most people wear their masks and the closest you get is in the elevator. As long as you have your mask, things will be fine. The beach is calling. Answer.

Until next time queens

Love and peace.
